Choosing Materials and Layout
We talk through material options with you before work starts, from traditional stone flags to modern porcelain paving, thinking about how the patio will connect to your house and garden. Layout matters as much as material, and we plan the shape and size of your patio to suit how you actually want to use the space, whether that is dining, relaxing or both.
Groundwork and Drainage
A patio that looks good on day one but sinks or floods within a year is a poor investment. We excavate properly and lay a solid sub base before any paving goes down, with falls built in so rainwater drains away from the house rather than pooling on the surface. This groundwork stage is where a long lasting patio is really built.
Laying and Finishing
Once the base is ready, we lay each slab or tile carefully, keeping joints even and the surface level throughout. Pointing is finished neatly to stop weeds coming through and to give the patio a clean, tidy appearance. The result is a patio that looks sharp from the first day and continues to perform well through Oxford's changing weather.
